Regents Season Is Here: Your Final-Stretch Study Plan

If you're a New York student, June is the big one. The June administration is the largest Regents window of the year, and for most students it's when the exams that count toward graduation actually happen. With the season almost here, the next few weeks are the highest-leverage study time you'll get — here's how to use them.

When is the June Regents season?

The June Regents exams run over roughly a week and a half in mid-to-late June, with each subject scheduled on a specific morning or afternoon. Exact dates and start times are set each year by New York State and your school, so confirm your personal exam schedule with your school or counselor — and double-check the room and report time for every test you're sitting.

Your final-stretch plan

Cramming brand-new material in the last week rarely moves a Regents score. What works is a short, focused countdown:

  • 3–4 weeks out — diagnose. Take a timed practice set (or a full mock) in each subject to find your weak categories. Don't just chase a score; note which topics cost you points.
  • 2 weeks out — drill the weak spots. Spend most of your time on the categories you missed, not the ones you already know. Read the explanation on every question you get wrong.
  • 1 week out — rehearse. Do at least one full-length, timed mock exam per subject to build stamina and dial in your pacing across Part I and the written sections.
  • The day before — taper. Light review only. Pack what you need, confirm your report time, and get a real night's sleep.

On exam day

  • Bring the right tools. For the math exams (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II) you'll work with a graphing calculator — know yours cold. For Chemistry, get fluent with the state Reference Tables you're given; for Living Environment, be ready for the lab-based and data questions.
  • Pace Part I. The multiple-choice section is the biggest chunk of points — bank those efficiently, then give the written parts the time they need.
  • Never leave a multiple-choice question blank. There's no penalty for guessing on the Regents, so always fill in an answer.

Know your numbers

Every Regents is reported on a 0–100 scaled score: 65 is passing and 85 earns Mastery. If your diagnostics land you near a line, the final two weeks of targeted drilling are exactly where you can push above it.

Make the next few weeks count

The fastest way to climb in the final stretch is volume plus feedback: lots of exam-style multiple-choice questions, each with an explanation. NY Regents Quiz is built for this — NYS-aligned practice by category plus full-length timed mock exams. Pick your subject and start drilling your weak spots today.

Exam dates, report times, and graduation requirements are set by New York State and your school — always confirm them with your school counselor. NY Regents Quiz is an independent study platform and is not affiliated with the New York State Education Department.
